1. What Kadro is

Kadro is a small, independent team building tools for developers and power users who work with AI coding agents every day. The company is based in Romania and ships from there. We work in public, write our own copy, and prefer durable artifacts over announcements.

2. What we’re building

The longer arc is an AI apps ecosystem— a set of native, local-first applications that take agentic workflows seriously and treat the desktop as a first-class surface. Each app focuses on one slice of how AI-native work actually happens.

Kadro ADE, our agentic development environment for macOS, is the first app in that ecosystem and the one shipping now. It is where coding agents, terminals, git worktrees, and human review share one workspace. More apps in the suite will follow on the same foundations: local execution, honest defaults, and explicit operator control.

We are not trying to host models or replace the editor you already use. We are building the surface around the tools you already run.

3. Principles

  • Desktop-first. Real work happens on a real machine. Kadro apps run natively, keep your files on your disk, and stay useful when the network does not.
  • Privacy by default. We do not sell data, do not train on your code, and keep our sub-processor list short and visible in the privacy policy.
  • Agents belong in worktrees.Isolated branches, reviewable diffs, and visible terminals — not a single opaque chat thread. The operator stays in charge of what gets merged.
