Refund policy

1. Scope
This Refund Policy explains when Kadro issues refunds for paid subscriptions to the Kadro macOS application and any related paid services offered through kadrotools.ai. It supplements, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service. The contracting party is Alexandru Popescu, sole trader, established in Romania (“Kadro,” “we,” “us”).
Payments are processed by Stripe. Refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe; Kadro does not process card data directly.
2. 14-day free trial
Kadro offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. You can use Kadro’s paid features during the trial at no cost, and you will not be charged unless you choose to start a paid subscription at the end of the trial. Because the trial does not collect payment, there is nothing to refund for the trial itself.
3. EU and UK consumer right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer habitually resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with a statutory right of withdrawal, you have 14 days from the day your paid subscription begins to withdraw and receive a full refund of that subscription, in line with Directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights and Romanian Government Emergency Ordinance 34/2014.
To exercise this right, email contact@kadrotools.ai from the address on your account within 14 days of the start of your paid subscription. A clear statement that you wish to withdraw is enough — no form is required.
By starting a paid subscription and beginning to use paid features within the 14-day period, you expressly request that we begin performance of the digital service before the withdrawal period ends and acknowledge that, where mandatory law allows, you may lose the right of withdrawal once performance has fully started. We will still honor a full refund within the 14-day window for first subscriptions where you have not unreasonably used the service.
4. Refunds after the withdrawal period
Outside the 14-day statutory window, paid subscription fees are non-refundable as a default rule. We may, at our discretion, issue a partial or full refund where:
- a duplicate charge or accidental renewal occurred and is reported promptly;
- a material technical defect prevented you from using Kadro during the billing period and we could not resolve it in a reasonable time;
- you are billed for a renewal you did not intend and you report it within 14 days of the renewal charge and have not actively used the renewed period;
- applicable mandatory law requires a refund in your situation, including the conformity guarantees of Directive (EU) 2019/770 on the supply of digital content and digital services.
These goodwill refunds are decided case by case and do not create a right to a refund in other situations.
5. Cancellation vs. refund
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund amounts already paid for the current billing period, except as set out in sections 3 and 4 above or as required by law. After cancellation, you keep access to paid features until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
6. How to request a refund
Email contact@kadrotools.ai from the address on your account and include:
- your account email,
- the date of the charge you want refunded (or the Stripe receipt, if you have it),
- a short note saying whether you are exercising your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal or asking for a goodwill refund, and the reason if relevant.
We aim to acknowledge refund requests within 2 business days and to issue eligible refunds within 10 business days of approval.
7. Processing time and method
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe. Stripe typically posts the refund within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer; in some cases it can take longer. Currency conversion and bank fees, where applicable, are determined by your payment method and not by Kadro.
8. Chargebacks and disputes
If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us first at contact@kadrotools.ai— most billing issues are resolved within a few business days. Filing a chargeback with your bank or card issuer without first contacting us may lead to suspension of your account while the dispute is investigated, and may delay resolution. This does not affect your statutory rights, including any right to dispute a charge under your payment provider’s rules.
9. Non-refundable items
The following are not refundable, except where mandatory law requires otherwise:
- usage of third-party agent CLIs (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini) or any third-party AI provider — those are billed and refunded by their respective providers, not by Kadro;
- charges by the Apple App Store, if Kadro is ever distributed through it — those are governed by Apple’s refund policy and must be requested through Apple;
- taxes already remitted to a tax authority where the authority does not refund them.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page tells you when. Changes apply to refund requests received on or after the effective date; they do not retroactively reduce rights that have already accrued to you.
